It’s no secret that Iran has developed a very respectable array of capable missiles. In particular, Iran has developed a suite of potent anti-ship missiles that can threaten the US Navy. However, what hasn’t been openly publicized is that Iran has developed containerized versions of these missiles that are hidden inside standard shipping containers. These containers can be placed on the deck of a normal cargo vessel and launched at sea. The closest analog to these weapons may be Russia’s Club-K system. Club-K was designed to be a highly effective aircraft carrier killer and may have been exported to Iran. If Iran has Club-K systems, it is fully capable of sinking a US aircraft carrier. If Iran has only their domestically produced versions, it is still likely a highly effective system and fully capable of taking out both commercial shipping and military vessels.
The fact these weapons exist is scary enough. Their existence directly threatens the ability for the US Navy to safely and effectively operate anywhere in or near the Persian Gulf. In addition, they are a key capability Iran would rely on if it decided to shut down commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. As my readers are aware, the majority of the world’s oil moves through that choke point and any disruption would reck world economies and cause fuel shortages in the US. However, there is a darker secret most people are completely unaware of. Iran has since dispersed these containerized weapons to allies and is believed to have provided them to the Houthis in Yemen. If the Houthis possess these weapons, and I do believe they do, Iran via proxy, will have the ability to shut down shipping traffic in the Red Sea. The Bab al-Mandab Strait connecting the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden, like the Strait of Hormuz, is also a major choke point for world energy supplies. Houthis, using these containerized anti-ship missiles, could not only sink commercial shipping, but also US and Israeli naval vessels.
As of tonight, Israeli jets have struck missile launch sites in Yemen in retaliation for launching missiles at Israel yesterday. With this escalation, Israel and Yemen are now officially at war. I would assign a high likelihood that the next step for Yemen will be to attack commercial shipping and/or Israeli or US navy ships operating in and around the Red Sea or Gulf of Aden. Folks, we are probably no more than 48 hours away from this spiraling out of control and the closure of the Red Sea. This will have an immediate impact on world economies. Once this line is crossed, fuel prices are going to go through the roof. In addition, it will stall already suffering economies and put them into recession. If the Strait of Hormuz is also shut down, and this looks very likely, we will go directly to a full global economic meltdown and fuel shortages.
For the reasons I have previously written (see my Substack), Israel intends to escalate this war. I do not see Israel committing to a ceasefire anytime soon despite growing international pressure. Israel’s plan is predicated on achieving their apocalyptic messianic aspirations and they see this as their chance to achieve their goals. In plain language, Israel is about to get a whole lot of people killed. This conflict is about to engulf the entire Middle East.
